Here's a quick schedule of how things will run for this meet :
(This is all suggestion at this time, so check back often to see if things change)
Thursday June 4th
7 PM : Happy Hours at St-Bock
This is a pretty cosy place that serves excellent microbrewery beers and delicious food (their burgers are off the flippin' hook). If we see the group is getting too big for the place, we'll move to the St-Ciboire, home of the very first Montreal Meet-up.
Friday June 5th
10 AM : La Ronde
Meeting point : at the Papineau metro station (green line on which most of the out of towners will be staying) around 10 AM. We will then take a bus that will lead us directly to La Ronde, our Six Flags park. Should be pretty fun and it will be open till 9 PM, so let's hope for some sun.
9:30 PM : Foufounes Électriques
AKA, The Electric Bumcheeks. This place is widely known for being an institution in alternative rock. This place has seen lots of great bands pass though its doors for memorable performances way before they get mainstream attention like NIN, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, etc. It's also one of the first bar outside Seattle that has seen Nirvana perform.
Today, it's a pretty casual bar with a nice outside terasse, pool and babyfoot tables and cheap beer. It's situated 2 steps away from the St-Laurent station on the green line.
Saturday June 6th
12 PM : BEEEERFEEEEST! Meet point - Lucien L'allier station (orange line)
This is it, the big one. This place is bound to be crazy packed, so if you can, bring along your cellphones. We will most likely split into smaller groups, so we'll need at least one cell phone per group to keep track of everyone. Remember that either way, everyone's on their own here, so if you get very drunk, don't count on us to a) find you in the crowd or/and b) drag your ass to the next point.
Afterwards for dinner, I suggest we head out to La Banquise, a gourmet poutine place that is reknown toserve one of the best poutine in the province.
No activity is scheduled so far for Saturday night, but I'm sure something will pop up soon enough!
Sunday June 7th
1 PM : Tourist crap Meet point - Place d'Armes station (orange line)
DancinTurkeyGod (a Montreal regular) suggested that we hang around the old port a bit, which is not a bad idea since it's one of the best (and cheapest) touristic points in Montreal. Lots to do here for out of towners.
So to people coming from out of town, I'd suggest taking a look at our public transportation's official website, STM.info for maps or any information regarding the subway lines or the buses.
Peace out!
Luis
